Sometimes it pays off to go down into the basement. What you see here are the baths of the royal alcazars of Seville, the royal palace which was actually a Moorish fort previously. Which you certainly can see and which makes the palace a real beauty – reminded me of the Alhambra in Granada. And conveniently there was a nice balustrade just in front of the pool, so that I could actually take a couple of long-exposure shots. My apologies to everybody who had to queue behind me! And my condolences to all who just stuck their point&shoot camera in the air and hoped for their miraculous flash to take care of everything…
It always strikes me, that those people certainly seem to know how to live a fullfilled life – at least those that were lucky enough to be upper-class. I wonder whether Ipads, Twitter, World of Warcraft and cheap flights across the globe really improved things fundamentally? But maybe I’m just in my Luddism-mode… I’ve tried to follow the recent discussion around Nick Carr, and he certainly has a point (in my mind) when he questions whether we should naively embrace the current media frenzy. Or whether we might be loosing something valuable.
